چکیده
Coffee roasting is a heat treatment process that transforms green coffee into product can subsequently be ground and brewed. Understanding critical in developing new downstream processes formulations, as well optimising existing ones. Positron Emission Particle Tracking (PEPT) allows tracking of particles equipment has been used here to characterise particle dynamics beans within spouted bed roaster subject varying air-to-bean ratios without roasting. Occupancy profiles associated with each ratio have determined two distinct regions identified: (i) dense bean high occupancy (ii) dilute freeboard lower occupancy. Results also revealed the effect density on roaster. Overall, this work demonstrates PEPT useful tool generate data regarding granular flow patterns roasters might improve mass transfer models for

Hydrodynamics of a Gas-Solid Fluidized Bed at Elevated Temperatures Using the Radioactive Particle Tracking Technique
Effect of temperature on hydrodynamics of bubbling gas-solid fluidized beds was investigated. Experiments were carried out in the range of 25-600 ºC and different superficial gas velocities in the range of 0.17-0.78 m/s with sand particles. Time-position trajectory of particles was obtained by radioactive particle tracking technique. These data were used for determination of mean velocitie...
متن کاملA New Modified Particle Filter With Application in Target Tracking
The particle filter (PF) is a novel technique that has sufficiently good estimation results for the nonlinear/non-Gaussian systems. However, PF is inconsistent that caused mainly by loss of particle diversity in resampling step and unknown a priori knowledge of the noise statistics. This paper introduces a new modified particle filter called adaptive unscented particle filter (AUPF) to overcome th...
متن کاملThree-dimensional spatiotemporal tracking of fluorine-18 radiolabeled yeast cells via positron emission particle tracking
A method for Positron Emission Particle Tracking (PEPT) based on optical feature point identification techniques is demonstrated for use in low activity tracking experiments. A population of yeast cells of approximately 125,000 members is activated to roughly 55 Bq/cell by 18F uptake. An in vitro particle tracking experiment is performed with nearly 20 of these cells after decay to 32 Bq/cell. ...
متن کاملStudy of Pressure Drop in the 2D Spouted Bed with Conical Base of Binary Particle Mixtures: Effects of Particle Size and Density
In this study, the pressure drop for the binary mixtures of particles differing in size and density in a pseudo-2D spouted bed was experimentally studied. A binary mixture of solid particles including sand, Gypsum, and polyurethane was used in the experimental setup. Effects of static bed height, cone angle, particles diameter, and a particles weight fraction on the bed pressure drop were e...
